Generalizations of Birkhoff's theorem for clones
Abstract:
We use Birkhoff's theorem for algebras to derive a version for function clones. We further generalize the notion of linking construction methods and preservation of certain identities, by showing that reflections and retractions preserve identities of height 1 and identities of height at most 1 respectively.
